Dear Parents,
 
The days seem to go faster as we approach the end of the school year.  Please be sure to check your CTKCS May calendar so you will not miss any of these events. 
 
Academic Fees
The Academic Fee schedule is included in the Brown Envelope; these are due back by Monday, May 22.

May Crowning
Please join us for the May Procession and Crowning of Mary on May 2 at 8:00 a.m.  We will begin the procession with the eighth grade students carrying the statue of Mary around the block while praying the Rosary.  One of the two youngest second grade students will place the crown of flowers on the statue of Mary in the church.  We will conclude with Benediction. The second grade students will wear their First Holy Communion clothes.  All other children will be dressed in uniform for this special occasion.
 
Field Day
Field Day is Friday, May 5. We will start the day off with an all School Mass at 8:00 followed by the Seminary Run, after the run we will enjoy the Field Day competitions.  That afternoon the 7 ^th graders and the 8 ^th graders will compete in a game of Basketball in the gym, with the rest of the students cheering them on. There will also be a great Surprise Half Time show. Snacks for Field Day will be available for sale by the PTO.  This will be a fun day for all!
 
Library
All library books will be due back to the library on May 12.  We will be conducting inventory and all books should be returned by this date.  Lost or non-returned books must be paid for or replaced.    May 12 is also be the final day for AR testing for the 4 ^th quarter.
 
Eighth Grade Final School Mass
We will celebrate our final Mass with our eighth grade students on May 19.  This Mass will be offered for their intentions.   After mass we will distribute the following awards:  Presidential, Citizenship and the Ideal Graduates.  We invite parents to pray with us that morning.
 
Financial
All outstanding financial obligations must be paid by May 15 , 2017.  If unpaid, we will be unable to release final report cards or transcripts.  If you have questions regarding your financial obligations, please contact Kathy Barr.
 
May Outreach
We will be collecting school supplies for Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School in Mobile for our May outreach.  Our last day to receive donations will be May 25.

CTK Inshore Classic
The 7 ^th Annual Christ the King Inshore Classic Fishing Tournament will take place on May 20 at Camp Cullen in Point Clear.  There will be kid’s activities, music, prizes, food, beverages and a great time.  Please visit www.inshoreclassic.org for entry forms, rules and sponsorship information. 
 
School Uniform
I would like to remind everyone that full uniform must be worn through May 24.  On May 25 and 26, we will have “Spirit Shirt Day”.  Any official CKCS shirt may be worn with jeans.  “Spirit Shirt Day” rules apply.  If in doubt, please refer to the Parent-Student Handbook.

Graduation Mass
Everyone is invited to this very special Mass on May 24 at 6:00 p.m.  Seventh grade students and parents will provide a reception in the Parish Hall afterwards. I want to extend a sincere word of gratitude to our priests, teachers and parents who are making preparations for this special event. We wish our graduates God’s special blessing as they leave us and enter the next phase of their educational journey.

Last day of School
Please note from your May calendar that the last day of school is May 26 and we will dismiss at 10:00 a.m. on that day.  There will be no extended day care on May 26.

Faculty Appreciation
Thank you to the first grade parents who provided refreshments for the April faculty meeting and to those parents who volunteered 233 hours for the month of April. 

Human Sexuality
Just a reminder!  We have a book, Between You and Your Child, published by Sadlier, the people who publish our Religion books.  The goal of this book is to help parents as they teach their children about Human Sexuality. You may purchase this book in the office for $5.00.
 
Student Directory
Please be advised that for the 2017-2018 school year we will no longer publish a paper Student Directory. The Student Directory can be found in PlusPortals. Any address and phone number changes can now be made throughout the school year.
 
We have many activities planned during May so be sure to mark your calendar now:
 

• May 2            May Crowing (Dress Uniform) – 8:00 a.m.
• May 5            Mass, Seminary Run, Field Day, Basketball Game
• May 19          All School Mass, Final Mass for 8^th Grade, 8th Grade Awards to follow 8:00 a.m.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
• May 24          8^th Grade Graduation – 6:00 p.m.
• May 26          Last Day of School – 10:00 a.m. dismissal 

Please return the brown envelope tomorrow so we may use it for the second May newsletter on May 25.
