National Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. The theme "Catholic Schools" Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed." encompasses the core products and values that can be found in Catholic schools across the country. Not only is CTKCS teaching students to become future servant leaders, faith-filled disciples and enrich citizens in our communities, but our faculty and staff are growing with them. In Catholic schools, we are all learners, servants, and leaders and these shared qualities are what make Catholic schools work and succeed.
The official logo brings the CSW theme to life. The open book made up of multi-colored pages symbolizes how all areas of Catholic schools blend together, with faith - symbolized by the cross - at the forefront...Catholic schools are vibrant, dynamic and excellent.
We celebrate our community and the importance of service to others through our monthly Outreach, as well as our clubs and organizations participating in service projects and activities. We celebrate our students and recognize their accomplishments whether it be through academic excellence, success on the athletic field, recognition and achievement through extracurricular activities and community competition. We celebrate vocations by preparing our students to succeed by using their God-given talents, giving students the opportunity to get to know our seminarians and priests, and inviting speakers to present a "vocation talk" to our Jr. High students each month. We celebrate faculty and staff by preparing an "appreciation lunch" during Catholic Schools Week and National Teacher Appreciation Week, and our PTO giving our teachers "wish list" gift cards and a Christmas gift. We celebrate our families and acknowledge the role of families as partners in Catholic education as we enjoy fellowship together at our family picnic, attend fundraising events and social gatherings together, and volunteer with one another to serve our school and make CTKCS the best it can be.
Miss Byrd, Superintendent of Schools and Executive Director, Department of Catholic Education says, "our administrators serve our young people and aim to work together with parents for their child’s best interest. When parents and schools work together in harmony, with patience and understanding, we can positively influence our future world leaders and inspire them to the holiness in which God calls them to live. Truly, we are all in this together."
In this next week, together, we celebrate what Catholic education is about for all of us at CTKCS.
