July 27, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I can’t believe we are getting ready to start the new school year! I feel like it was just yesterday that we were developing our plan to come back to school in August 2020. As I reflect on the past year, I am so proud of our community’s commitment to Catholic education. Although we did not know what to expect upon returning to school in the midst of a pandemic, we stayed the course and put Catholic education in the forefront. Our faculty, staff, students, and school families were quite resilient; going to school with masks on, staying in their homeroom bubbles, and taking extra precautions to ensure safety for everyone..
Sometimes I forget about the pandemic as I’m going about my day. Through local and world events, I am quickly reminded that the pandemic is not over. We still need to keep our community safe from the spread of COVID-19.
Please read the letter from Archbishop Rodi that is under our Covid-19 RTS plan on this website. In addition to the protocols Archbishop Rodi outlined in his July 23 letter, (Updated August 5, 2021) Christ the King will maintain a safe environment through the following:
Covid-19 protocols in place for the start of the 2021-22 school year for all students and faculty:
Again this year we remind you to please keep your child home if he/she is sick. Also please contact the school if your child is isolating as a result of a diagnosed case of COVID or is at home quarantining due to close contact with a diagnosed case.
This information, as well as any updates to our protocols, will be communicated via our normal communication channels and available on our website. Please click Covid-19 at the top left corner of the homepage to access information on the 2021-22 school year.
At times, these COVID rules and regulations can be frustrating. Please keep in mind they are developed and implemented to keep our students and school employees safe. This is our top priority. Stay the course with us, stay positive with us, and look how far we have come in the past year and half.
I will be sending out more detailed back to school information next week. Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. The school office will reopen on Monday, August 2nd.
God Bless,
Jackie Garlock
If a member of our campus community tests positive for COVID-19, Christ the King will seek guidance from medical professionals, the Department of Catholic Education, and the Alabama Health Department as to appropriate protocols for reporting and notification. If it is determined that you or your child may have been exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual, you will receive an email notification alerting you of that fact. The school will not disclose the identity of students, faculty, or staff that have tested positive for COVID-19 except as may be required by law.
