November, 2015
Dear Parents:
We are approaching our fourth month of school and I find it difficult to believe it is November. We have many activities planned during November so be sure to mark your calendar now:
November 4 First Reconciliation Parent Meeting - 6:30 p.m.
November 22 Christ the King Celebration @ Cathedral -11:00 a.m.
November 24 Thanksgiving School Mass – 8:00 a.m.
November 25-27 Thanksgiving Holidays – No classes
Academics
Thank you for the support you have given to the teachers and your children during the first quarter of this year. We are proud of student achievements and grateful to our teachers for leading them. We also appreciate your support by attending the conferences and helping in the classrooms.
Grandparent’s Day – Pumpkin Festival
Thank you to the many people who made our Grandparent’s Day and Pumpkin Festival such a huge success. A special thank you to Alyson Schott, Grandparent’s Day Chairperson; Barbara Hutson, Grandparent’s Day Coordinator; Ginny Ford and Erica Navarre, Pumpkin Festival Chairpersons; and all the volunteers. Countless hours were worked to make these events special for everyone to enjoy!
Library Book Fair
We are excited to have Barnes and Noble conducting our book fair again December 1st – 5th. We will have many fabulous books, toys, and stuffed animals for purchase. Parents may meet their child in the library during recess or during their scheduled time, but students will not be able to leave during class time. Many of our teachers post wish lists for Christmas gifts. You will also be able to donate any of the book fair books to the library, which can be done as a memorial to a loved one, for your child, your family, in thanksgiving for a special teacher or faculty member. A significant portion of all book fair profits goes directly to our library. We will be accepting cash, credit cards and checks for your convenience. Christmas is right around the corner and what better gift for any child than a good book!
Handbook Acknowledgment Form
We still have families who have not returned their Parent-Student Handbook acknowledgment form. Please be sure to review our handbook with your children and then sign and return the acknowledgment form. The handbook is online at www.ctkcsdaphne.org. We will be contacting families that have not returned the form.
Faculty Appreciation
Thank you to the 7th grade parents who provided the snacks for the faculty meeting this month.
Volunteer Hours
Thanks to all who donated 363 hours of service during October. It was a busy month!
Outreach
September – Burse Club - $535.50
October – St. Vincent de Paul
November - Catholic Social Services
Donations/Free Money
Zoghby‘s $2000.00
Contributing Rate
Please remember that the Church operates on a budget from December to December each year. This means that in order to receive the contributing rate, contributions must be made by December of this year.
End of Year Tax Deduction - Memorials
In lieu of flowers for your deceased relatives and friends, please consider making a donation to CKCS. Donations should be sent to CKCS with the name and address of your loved one’s family. A card will be sent to them. You will also receive a card acknowledging your gift. Your donation will be used to help pass on the Catholic faith from this generation to the next.
Morning Procedures
Please remember that students arriving before 7:30 a.m. should go to the gym for safety since teacher supervision does not begin until 7:30 a.m. Please also remember to let your student out when you stop. One car can hold up ten other cars if you do not follow this simple procedure. I thank you and all the parents behind you will also thank you.
Christ the King Celebration
Make plans now to attend Christ the King Archdiocesan Celebration to be held at the Cathedral on Sunday, November 22, at 11:00 a.m. Please come and celebrate with us.
Let us thank God for our many blessings. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.
Sincerely in Christ,
Maxwell J. Crain
