In PreK 3 a Thematic approach is used in the classroom, which means that curriculum will be centered around a particular theme, idea, or topic. This approach allows the teachers to integrate a central idea across all areas of the curriculum.
The thematic approach allows children to learn, explore, and investigate ideas and the environment as it pertains to each theme. It also enables them to tie together the knowledge they have acquired through kinesthetic learning. Some themes include:
● All about Me
● All About my Family
● My Five Senses
● Foods we Eat
● The Four Seasons
● Holidays and Festivals (Thanksgiving, Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Mardi Gras, etc.)
● On the Farm
● Arctic Animals
● Nursery Rhymes
